Privacy Policy

The short version. The calculators run in your browser, so the prices and costs you enter are never sent to us. We use one essential cookie to remember your privacy choice. Optional site measurement stays off unless you allow it. Google's tag is present with advertising storage denied by default, and Google Ads cookies stay off unless you allow Google Ads measurement. If you subscribe to email updates, we hold the details needed to manage that request.
This policy explains what Handmade Margin collects, why, and how to contact us about it.
Who we are
Handmade Margin is an independent tool. Questions, access requests and privacy complaints go to contact@handmademargin.com.
Calculator figures
The figures you enter into the calculator stay in your browser. We do not receive, store or see item prices, costs, postage, labour or results.
What we collect

Cookies, trackers and sharing
- One first-party, essential cookie remembers your privacy choices for 180 days. It contains only those choices, not an account ID, calculator figures or browsing history.
- Optional site measurement is disabled until you choose to allow it. Google's tag is present with advertising storage, ad personalisation and ad user data denied by default. Google Ads measurement lets Google measure visits from Handmade Margin ads after you allow it; it does not receive the calculator figures you enter. We do not use third-party analytics, session recording or fingerprinting.
- No sale, rental or sharing of personal information for another party's own marketing.
- No use of an email address unless you subscribe to updates.
If you choose a Shopify affiliate link, you leave Handmade Margin. Shopify and Impact may process information and use attribution technologies under their own policies. We do not load Shopify or Impact tracking technology while you browse Handmade Margin; that interaction begins only if you actively follow the external link. Read the Cookie Policy for the cookie name, purpose, duration and settings. The site and database use Cloudflare's infrastructure, which may process information outside Australia. Cloudflare acts as our service provider. We do not use a separate email marketing, CRM or analytics provider. Google's advertising technologies explain its ad controls and data practices.
Retention and email
- Email-update records: while you remain subscribed. We retain an unsubscribe record so we do not contact you again by mistake.
- Anti-spam hashes: older records are removed when the signup service next processes a request, using a 30-day cutoff.
- Optional usage events: kept without a direct identifier to assess the site over time, only where you allowed optional site measurement.
Every marketing email will include a working unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information at contact@handmademargin.com.
Your choices and complaints
You can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information by emailing contact@handmademargin.com. If you are unhappy with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or your local privacy regulator where applicable.
