Cookie Policy
Last updated 2 September 2026
The short version. We use one first-party, essential cookie to remember your privacy choice. Optional site measurement stays off unless you allow it. The Google tag is present with advertising storage denied by default, and Google Ads cookies stay off unless you allow Google Ads measurement.
Cookies are small pieces of information a site can store in your browser. This page explains the cookie currently used by Handmade Margin and how to change your choice.
The cookie we use
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| hm_cookie_preferences | Remembers whether you allowed or rejected optional site and Google Ads measurement, so we do not keep asking. It contains only those choices, not an account ID, calculator figures or a browsing history. | 180 days |
This preference cookie is necessary for the settings panel to work. It is not used for advertising, profiling or cross-site tracking.
Optional site measurement
If you allow it, we record limited first-party events such as a page view or calculator use to understand whether the tool is helpful. These events do not use a cookie, third-party analytics service, account ID, device ID, raw IP address or calculator figures. If you reject optional measurement, those events are not sent. A successful email-update subscription still creates its own limited operational record because you directly requested that service.
Advertising
Google's tag is installed on every page so we can measure visits from Handmade Margin ads. It starts with advertising storage, ad personalisation and ad user data denied. If you allow Google Ads measurement, we update those choices to allow Google's advertising measurement. Google does not receive the calculator figures you enter. Learn about Google's advertising technologies and controls.
Affiliate links
We do not load Shopify or Impact code, or place Shopify or Impact cookies, while you browse Handmade Margin. If you deliberately choose a clearly labelled Shopify affiliate link, you leave this site through an external link. Shopify and Impact may then use their own cookies or other attribution technologies to track that referral under their own policies. Their technology is not controlled by Handmade Margin, and it is not covered by the choices in this settings panel.
Change your choice
Open cookie settings to allow or reject optional measurement at any time. You can also delete this site's cookies in your browser settings. If you delete the preference cookie, we will show the choice panel again next time you visit.
